Off Grid AI for MAC

Free, open-source AI studio for Apple Silicon Macs: chat, images, voice and document search run on your device, with no account or API key.

Off Grid AI Overview

Off Grid AI is a local AI app for Apple Silicon Macs. You download open models from its built-in catalog, or any GGUF model from Hugging Face, and use them for text and vision chat, image generation, speech recognition and text to speech. All of this runs on your own hardware through bundled llama.cpp, stable-diffusion.cpp, whisper.cpp and Kokoro, with no cloud inference, account or API key. Anonymous usage data and crash reports are sent only if you turn them on.

Projects let you group chats, upload documents and get answers with cited sources from your own files. Live artifacts show HTML, React, SVG, Mermaid and Markdown from the model in a sandbox with no network or file access. Chats can also use local tools and any MCP connectors you add. A built-in gateway offers one local OpenAI-compatible API, so other apps can use the same models. Off Grid AI is built by Wednesday Solutions, and the free app is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license. It needs an Apple Silicon Mac, and its build settings set macOS 13 as the minimum. The app is signed and notarized. Be ready for large downloads: the installer is about 758 MB, and models come on top of that. An optional paid Off Grid AI Pro adds an always-on layer with screen capture, memory and meeting recording, and is sold as a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription. Version 0.0.55 is a maintenance release.
